Wearing a cap under your helmet is a great way to protect your scalp from cold air, rain and snow, burning sun, or stinging insects that just have to fly right into your vents. It's also a nice way to sneak in another little bit of kit, like the cherry on top of your outfit sundae.
The Velominati would have you believe that wearing a cycling cap off-bike is a major faux-pas, but a couple of us around the shop like to sport 'em with our casual fits. Who cares, do what you want.
